Christ Church Drops Series
Failures by home-standing Christ Church to get key hits in two clutch situations resulted in a two games to one series victory by St. Matthews Baptist Church Monday night.
In Game One, St. Matthews took a 1-0 lead into the third inning, Christ Church's loan hit over that period was Mike Peak's single to lead-off the Christ Church first inning. In the fourth, a solo home run (RBI) by Jerry Hinton and a two out triple by Dick Lutz and an RBI single by Mike Thompson gave Christ Church a 2-1 lead. St. Matthews tied the score in the fifth and took the lead with a four run seventh. Mike T's triple and Tom Bennett's RBI single trimmed the lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh but a half inning later St. Matthews made it a 7-3 game. In the eighth, Christ Church loaded the bases on singles by Jerry, Paul Hirsbrunner, and David Stierle but the hit or hits needed to tie the game were not forthcoming as St. Matthews took Game One.
Christ Church used a big fiurth inning to power to a Game Two win. Trailing 1-0 at that time and with two outs. Paul singled; David tripled (RBI); Mike T. singled (RBI); Bob Stone tripled (RBI); and Tom closed out the scoring with an RBI single and a 4-1 lead. Singles by Mike P. (fifth) and David (sixth) produced no runs and St. Matthews trimmed the lead to 4-3 after six and a half innings. A single by Jerry and a two out triple (RBI) by Mike T. made the final score 5-3 and evened the night at a game a piece.
Game Three was tied after nine innings. St. Matthews scored a run in the first which was matched by Christ Church in the fifth- a triple by David and a single by Dick (RBI). Two runs by St, Matthews in the seventh were again matched by Christ Church in the eighth- a two run home run by Charles Smith after a single by Frank Preston. With the score tied at three in the bottom of the ninth, Christ Church put a man on (a single by Paul) but failed twice to get the game winning triple sending the game to extra innings where St. Matthews won it with at wo run home run in the tenth. Mike P. also had a single in the loss.

Christ Church Sweeps Immanuel
On a night when both teams struggled to hit (29 total) and score (11 total runs), Christ Church did just enough to win three Monday night at Immanuel.
In Game One, Immanuel took a 2-0 lead into the seventh inning with a two run fourth inning while Christ Church could manage only a fourth inning lead off single by Mike Peak. Christ Church cut the lead in half in the seventh. Paul Hirsbrunner singled and Bob Stone delivered a two out RBI triple. An inning later, Christ Church tied the score when, after two were out, Terry Waddle singled and Mike Peak tripled (RBI). With the score still tied at two in the ninth, David Stierle singled and scored on another RBI triple by Bob for a 3-2 lead which held up after Immanuel left a runner on second.
Immanuel failed to score in a 3-0 Game Two victory for Christ Church. Christ Church was again scoreless through six innings. In the seventh, Christ Church struck for a pair of runs on Bob's third triple of the night and a 2 RBI home run by Mike Thompson. The last run came when Mike P. walked on four straight in the red below first base and Paul followed with an RBI triple to complete the 3-0 win.
Christ Church completed the sweep with a Game Three win. For the third Game in a row, Christ Church failed to score in the first six innings, and managed only two hits, a single in the fourth and a triple in the sixth, both by Mike P. Although Christ Church failed to add to their four hit total, these two runs held up for the Game Three win and the series sweep.
For the night, Christ Church had 32 at bats with runners on base, getting hits 6 times and producing their eight runs. Christ Church improved to 17-13 for the year.

Christ Church Wins Series
Christ Church beat visiting Crescent Hill Baptist Church two games to one Monday night.
In Game One, Jerry Hinton led off the bottom of the first with a single. David Stierle followed with a triple (RBI) and Paul Hisrbrunner followed him with an RBI triple for a 2-0 early lead. Crescent Hill scored one in the third and two in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead. Christ Church was unable to score Lean Bennett (lead-off single) in the second and Kay Peak (one out double) in the sixth. But in the eighth with two outs and David on third after a triple Kay delivered the game winning home run (2 RBI) for a 4-3 lead which turned out to be the final score. Tom Bennett reached on an error in the eighth but was left on base.
Christ Church also took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Jerry again led off with a single, scored on a triple (RBI) by Mike Thompson, and he scored on Bob Stone's two out RBI single.Bob also doubled in the fourth and Paul singled in the sixth but neither effort produced a run. Christ Church added a run in the eighth. Jerry tripled and was driven in on Paul's RBI single. Crescent Hill could manage only one hit and Christ Church won Game Two 3-0 and clinched the night's series.
Crescent Hill struck for three runs in the top of the first in Game Three. That turned out to be not only their only runs of the game but ALL of the runs scored as Christ Church was shut out in the 3-0 loss. Jerry had his third lead-off single of the night and David singled twice. His single in the sixth, with two outs, was followed by a double by Mike T. but Christ Church left both on base and there were no other threats.
