WEEK SEVENTEEN LEAGUE RESULTS


POWER FAILURE

After coming back from the Christmas break on January 5th and lighting up the score board,  Monday night at Immanuel, Christ Church failed to find any spark in dropping the night's series,

In Game One, Christ Church failed to score.  Athough almost matching immanuel in hits seven to eight, only once did Christ Church manage more than one hit in an inning, that occuring in ninth.  David Stierle had a two out triple in the third.  Leah Bennett led off the second with a single.  Jerry Hinton and Leah added one out singles in the third and fourth respectively and Jerry added a two out single in the eighth.  In the ninth, down by three runs, Leah and Dick Lutz singled with two outs but the futility continued.  Immanuel scored two in the fifth (Dick homered, Zach tripled and Frank singled) and one in the eighth (Zack homered).  The Final- Immanuel 3 - Christ Church 0..

In Game Two, Christ Church was able to put the lead-off batter on base twice (Jerry singled in the second and David singled in the fifth, but neither scored.  Christ Church's first run of the night came in the third on a home run by Mike Peak to give Christ Church a 1-0 lead.  Immanuel tied the game in the fifth on Tanner's homer.  In the seventh, Lean singled and scored a batter later when Bob Stone tripled.  Christ Church managed to out hit Immanuel five-three.  The Final- Christ Church 2 - Immanuel 1.

Both teams had seven hits in Game Three.  Christ Church struck nfirst with a first inning solo home run by Tom Bennett.  Immanuel took a 2-1 lead in the third on a single (Jim(, triple (Buzz) and single (Frank) and added a run in the sixth on Zach's HR,  Christ Church had singles by Leah (in the second and fourth), Mike P. (third), Dick (fifth) and David (seventh and ninth) but could not produce the second hit in an inning to produce the trun needed for the tie.  The Final- Immanuel 2 - Christ Church 1.

THIRTY-NINE HITS EARNS SWEEP

Christ Church used three double digit hit games to sweep home-standing Portland Monday night.

After a scoreless two innings in Game One (Mike Peak led off the first with a single and David Stierle did likewise in the second) Mike P. singled and Jerry Hinton tripled (RBI) to give Christ Church a 1-0 lead in the third.  Christ Church added three runs in the fourth.  David singled, Leah Bennett tripled (RBI), and Frank Preston homered (2 RBI).  Christ Church struck for three runs again an inning later on a single by Tom Bennett, a triple (RBI) by David, a single (RBI) by Mike Thompson and another RBI triple by Leah.  After Mike P. singled in the sixth, a single by Paul Hirsbrunner and a triple (RBI) by Mike T. made the score 8-0.  Portland got on the board in the bottom of the seventh on a HR by Barb after a single by Ron.  The Final- Christ Church 8 - Portland 2.

Christ Church opened the scoring in the first in Game Two on a single by Mike P., a triple (RBI) by Tom and a single (RBI) by Jerry.  Mike T. made it 3-0 with a fourth inning home run and Christ Church stretched the lead to 5-0 in the seventh.  Mike T. had his second consecutive HR and Leah singled and scored on an RBI triple by Dick Lutz.  Portland's sole run came on a seventh inning HR by Dave.  Other hits for Christ Church came from Mike P. (single in the third); Tom  (single in the sixth); and Mike T. (double in the ninth).  The Final- Christ Church 5 - Portland 1. 

Portland took their first lead in the bottom of the first in Game Three.  Perry led off and scored when Dave tripled.  Christ Church erased that lead in the third on a single by Jerry and a triple (RBI) by Paul.  David's single (RBI) and Mike T.'s triple made the score 3-1.  Christ Church added two in the sixth (David single; Leah RBI triple; Dick RBI single) one in the seventh (Mike P. single; Tom RBI triple) and closed out the scoring with three in ninth (Frank double; Tom RBI triple; Jerry RBI single; and David RBI triple).  Mike P. (first) abd David (second) added singles in a fifteen hit attack.  The Final- Christ Church 0 - Portland 1.
