St. Matthews Baptist beat Christ Church two games to one and, in the process clinched the Championship of the Crescent Hill Dartball League.
In Game One, Christ Church took an early 1-0 lead when Mike Peak drove in Jerry Hinton from first with a triple with no outs. But Christ Church stranded the runner at third. St. Matthews tied it in the second. Christ Church took a 3-1 lead with a run in the fourth (Mike Thompson homered) and a run in the fifth (Harry Barsh singled and Jerry Hinton drove him in with a triple. But that completed the the scoring for Christ Church and St. Matthews scored two in the sixth, two in the eighth and one in the ninth for a 6-3 win.
Game Two saw St. Matthews score eleven runs on thirteen hits. Christ Church had ten hits but could manage only a single run in the first and lost 11-1.
Christ Church salvaged a win in Game Three and avoided a sweep coming back from a 4-0 deficit with two runs in the third on a Bob Stone two run home run after Dick Lutz singled; three runs in the fifth on another two run home run by Bob Stone, this time driving in John Frederick and a Mike Thompson triple and Mike Peak single; and a run in the eighth when Mike Peak singled and Jerry Hinton tripled. The final was 6-5.
St. Matthews has a 10 game lead with only 9 games remaining and cannot be caught.
