Watkins Memorial UMC used a 33 hit attack, including 32 extra-base hits, including 26 doubles and 6 home runs, to sweep Christ Church on Monday night at Watkins. Over the first five weeks of the season, Christ Church had hit 13 doubles and their opponents 12 for a total of 27, a number which Watkins fell just one short of. A double and a home run added two in the second; a home run added one in the third; three doubles in the fourth and a double and a home run in the fifth made it 8-0. Christ Church had two hits though five- David Stierle singled in the second and Dick Lutz tripled in the third. In the sixth, Teery Waddle's double and Dick's home run (2 RBI) was matched by Watkins in the bottom for a 10-2 score after six. In the seventh Charles Smith homered and in the ninth, Mike Peak and David singled with Mike scoring on an RBI single by Charles. Watkins had 13 doubles for the game.

Christ Church had a double from Bob (in the sixth inning), and singles from Dick (seventh), Mike Thompson (eighth) and Paul (ninth) but could not push any additional runs across. And in the eighth, after a Watkins lead-off home run made the score 5-3, the doubles barrage continued with four straight doubles to make the final score 6-5 in favor of Watkins.
