CHRIST CHURCH DROPS SERIES

Christ Church's inability to drive in runs cost it the series Monday night to visiting Immanuel.  In Game One Christ Church had fourteen chances to drive in runs (eleven from first; two from second; one from third) but were successful only once.  In Game Three they also had fourteen chances to
drive in runs (eleven from first; three from second) and were successful only twice.

In Game One Mike Peak led off with a single and added a two out triple in the third.  Tom Bennett led off the fourth with a single.  All three runners died on base.  Frank gave Immanuel a 1-0 lead with a fourth inning home run.  Christ Church tied the game in the fifth on Mike P's triple after Mike Thompson reached on an error.  Frank's second home run put Immanuel back on top by a run in the seventh and a pair of singles (Buzz and David), a double (Jared) and a single (John) in the ninth closed out the scoring.  Jerry Hinton doubled in the sixth and singled in the ninth;  Charles Smith singled in the seventh and David Stierle singled in the ninth.  The Final - Immanuel 4 - Christ Church 1.

Christ Church jumped on top and stayed there in Game Two scoring five runs over the first two innings.  In the first Dick Lutz, Tom and Jerry went single-triple-single for a 2-0 lead.  David sacrificed Jerry to second and a double by Andy Coates made it 3-0.  Home runs by Charles and Dick scored two in the second.  In the fourth, after Charles reached on an error Mike P. tripled to score him.  Back to back doubles in the fifth by Andy and Bob Stone increased the lead to 7-0.  A single-triple-single by Jerry, Andy and Charles ran the lead up to nine.  Jerry, Mike P. and Dick added singles in a fifteen hit attack.  Brandy's eighth inning home run was Immanuel's only tally of the game.  The Final - Christ Church 9 - Immanuel 1.

In Game Three Immanuel took a three run lead into the bottom of the eighth (Buzz- single, David- single, Jared double [1-0] in the third; Frank- home run [2-0] in the sixth; Jared- double, Adam- double [3-0] in the eighth).  Christ Church had singles from Mike P. (two of them), Tom, and Leah without pushing across a run.  In the eighth Bob singled and Mike P. doubled to put runners on second and third.  Andy then delivered a two out double to drive in both runners, but that was it.  The Final - Immanuel 3 - Christ Church 2.
