CHRIST CHURCH FINISHES FIRST HALF AT .500

Christ Church hosted Harvey Browne Presbyterian Monday to close out the 2016 half of the season.

Harvey Browne led all the way in Game One.  In the top of the first a single by Jim and a home run by Mike gave Harvey Browne the instant lead.  They added a run in the third (a single by Jim and a triple by Jennifer) and two in the fourth (an error for Fred, a double by Tom, and a triple by Bob.  After a triple by Jerry Hinton in the third and a single by Dick Lutz in the third were wasted and down by five runs, Mike Thompson led off the third with a single.  David Stierle tripled (RBI) and Jerry singled (RBI) to cut into the lead.  In the sixth, Mike T singled and scored on an RBI triple by Tom Bennett.  Leah Bennett singled in the seventh but was left on base as neither team scored after the sixth.  The Final - Harvey Browne 5 - Christ Church 3.

Christ Church led all the way in Game two.  The scoring was started by a two out first inning home run by Mike T.  In the third, again after two were out, Mike Peak doubled and was driven in on a triple (RBI) from Mike T.  In the sixth, Harvey Browne got on the board on a home run by Bill.  Christ Church answered in the bottom of the inning restoring the two run lead as Mike P singled and Mike T tripled (RBI).  Harvey Browne was able to add a run in the eighth on a single by Jim and a triple by Jennifer but they could get no closer.  David and Leah added non-run scoring singles.  The Final - Christ Church 3 - Harvey Browne 2.

Game Three was scoreless in the first inning.  A pair of doubles by Tom and Louise put Harvey Browne up 1-0.  Christ Church was scoreless through five innings.  Leah singled in the first and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Mike T died at second.  Andy Coates doubled to lead off the third; Leah singled in the third; and Tom singled in the fourth; but each was left on base.  In the sixth, the lead changed hands for the first time on the night as Mike T and Andy homered as Christ Church moved ahead 2-1.  Mike P also singled but did not score in the eighth.  But Harvey Browne put up three runs in the ninth, tying the game on a single by Jim and a triple by Jennifer and took the lead on a two run home run by Mike.   The Final - Harvey Browne 5 - Christ Church 3.

Christ Church finished the first half of the season with a 21-21 record and in a tie for fifth place with Harvey Browne.
