CHRIST CHURCH CLOSES FIRST HALF WITH SERIES WIN

Christ Church was out hit in every game (7-6; 12-3; 10-7) and was out-scored on the night 9 runs to 7 but carried the night at Harvey Browne winning two out of three games.

Christ Church was without a hit in Game One until a lead-off single in the fifth by David Stierle.  Dick Lutz followed immediately with the second hit and the first run of the game on a triple (RBI). An inning later Nick Peak led off with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by Jerry Hinton.  Dick (a single in the seventh)  and David (a triple in the eighth) added non-run scoring hits.  Harvey Brown failed to push a run across leaving a runner on base in the first, second, third and eighth innings and leaving  two on in the fourth and ninth.  The Final - Christ Church 2 - Harvey Browne 0.

In Game Two, Harvey Browne struck for multiple runs three times.  In the third inning a single-triple-single from Jim, Fred H.and Fred W put Harvey Browne in front 2-0.  An inning later home runs by Cam and Richard scored the third and fourth runs and a home run by Fred, a double by Cam and a home run by Dick in the fifth added three more.  Christ Church saw Mike Thompson single in the second and Leah Bennett triple in the third without scoring.  Christ Church's third and last hit and only run came in the seventh on a home run by Mike T.  The Final - Harvey Browne 7 - Christ Church 1.

After Vince Richards died at second after a double in the first inning of Game Three, in the second inning with two outs, Andy Coates and Mark Nethary homered back to back to give Christ Church the lead.  Harvey Browne tied the game in the fifth.  Bill homered with one out and, with two outs, Richard doubled.  Jim moved him to third with a single and Fred H. drove in Jim and put two runners on.  But the third out stranded both and six other hits also resulted in stranded runners.  Christ Church did not put another runner on after a lead off single by Leah in the third until, with one out in the ninth, Vince, Dick (RBI) and David (RBI) each doubled as Christ Church won again in their last at bat.   The Final - Christ Church 4 - Harvey Browne 2.

EXTRA INNINGS NEEDED FOR SERIES WIN

Christ Church took two games out of three from Watkins Memorial UMC Monday night in Room 005.

A home run by Wendell gave Watkins the early Game One lead in the top of the first inning.  Mike Peak was stranded on first after a first inning single before Christ Church got on the board in the second.  David Stierle led off with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by Bob Stone who scored on Mark Nethary's RBI double.  A three run third inning stretched the lead to four as Mike P, Dick Lutz (RBI), David (RBI), and Bob (RBI) went single-triple-single-triple.  Watkins fought back to move within one on home runs by Kenny in the fifth and Norm and Doug in the seventh.  In the bottom of the seventh a single by Mike P and two out hits by Dick (RBI triple) and David (RBI single) closed out the scoring.  Maddie King added an eight inning double and Mike P a fourth inning triple, his fourth hit in four at bats as Christ Church tallied thirteen hits including two doubles and five triples.  The Final - Christ Church 7 - Watkins 4.

Christ Church took a first inning lead in Game Two.  Leah Bennett singled and scored on a triple (RBI) by David.  Watkins tied the score in the fourth on a HR by Norm.  Home runs by Gene and Wendell made it 3-1.  Vince Richards doubled in the fourth and Leah singled in the ninth but both died on base as Christ Church could manage only one run and four hits.  The Final - Watkins 3 - Christ Church 1.

Game Three was scoreless through three and a half innings.  Christ Church put runners on scond and third with no outs in the third inning after Mark reached on an error and Maddie doubled but the single necessary for a run was not forth-coming.  In the fourth, Vince and Andy Coates (RBI) doubled back to back for a 1-0 lead.  Maddie doubled the advantage with a home run in the fifth.  Andy was stranded after a double in the sixth.  In the seventh, both Norm and Barb homered and Gene's eighth inning homer put Watkins in front.  In the bottom of the eighth Mike P led off with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by David to even matters.  Neither team could score in the ninth and Watkins failed to score in the tenth.  In the Christ Church half of the tenth, Mike P led off with a triple and David's single (RBI) ended the game.  Christ Church put eleven men on base including an error, five doubles, two triples ans a home run .  The Final - Christ Church 4 - Watkins 3.
