CHRIST CHURCH CLOSES FIRST HALF WITH SERIES WIN

Christ Church was out hit in every game (7-6; 12-3; 10-7) and was out-scored on the night 9 runs to 7 but carried the night at Harvey Browne winning two out of three games.

Christ Church was without a hit in Game One until a lead-off single in the fifth by David Stierle.  Dick Lutz followed immediately with the second hit and the first run of the game on a triple (RBI). An inning later Nick Peak led off with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by Jerry Hinton.  Dick (a single in the seventh)  and David (a triple in the eighth) added non-run scoring hits.  Harvey Brown failed to push a run across leaving a runner on base in the first, second, third and eighth innings and leaving  two on in the fourth and ninth.  The Final - Christ Church 2 - Harvey Browne 0.

In Game Two, Harvey Browne struck for multiple runs three times.  In the third inning a single-triple-single from Jim, Fred H.and Fred W put Harvey Browne in front 2-0.  An inning later home runs by Cam and Richard scored the third and fourth runs and a home run by Fred, a double by Cam and a home run by Dick in the fifth added three more.  Christ Church saw Mike Thompson single in the second and Leah Bennett triple in the third without scoring.  Christ Church's third and last hit and only run came in the seventh on a home run by Mike T.  The Final - Harvey Browne 7 - Christ Church 1.

After Vince Richards died at second after a double in the first inning of Game Three, in the second inning with two outs, Andy Coates and Mark Nethary homered back to back to give Christ Church the lead.  Harvey Browne tied the game in the fifth.  Bill homered with one out and, with two outs, Richard doubled.  Jim moved him to third with a single and Fred H. drove in Jim and put two runners on.  But the third out stranded both and six other hits also resulted in stranded runners.  Christ Church did not put another runner on after a lead off single by Leah in the third until, with one out in the ninth, Vince, Dick (RBI) and David (RBI) each doubled as Christ Church won again in their last at bat.   The Final - Christ Church 4 - Harvey Browne 2.
