HARVEY BROWNE TAKES SERIES WIN

Christ Church was out-hit 23 to 15 in dropping two out of three games to visiting Harvey Browne Monday night.

Christ Church took the first lead in Game One on second inning, back to back, two out doubles by Tom Bennett and Andy Coates (RBI).  But that was Christ Church's only run of the game as they stranded runners after two out triples by David Stierle (in the fourth inning) and Mike Peak (in the sixth) and singles by David (in the seventh) and Jerry Hinton (in the ninth).  Harvey Browne took the lead in the fourth on a two run home run by Cam after a single by Jim.  Harvey Browne broke the game open in the sixth on a two out three run home run by Tom after singles by Jim and Fred.  The Final - Harvey Browne 5 - Christ Church 1.

Christ Church also scored first in Game Two.  In the third, Tom singled and scored on an RBI triple by Bob Stone.  A pair of home runs by Fred W and Greg gave Harvey Browne the lead in the fourth.  Christ Church edged in front in the bottom of the inning as Jerry, Mike Thompson (RBI) and Tom (RBI) singled, tripled and singled.  That lead held up through eight innings.  In the ninth a triple by Bob and a double by Greg tied the game and sent it to extra innings.  In the tenth, a three out home run by Tom provided the game winner.    The Final - Harvey Browne 6 - Christ Church 3.

Harvey Browne failed to score on three hits in Game Three.  Christ Church could manage only four hits but pushed across a pair of runs.  David tripled in the first but died on base.  In the fourth Mike P singled to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI triple by David.  Christ Church added an insurance run in the eighth on a home run by Vince Richards.  The Final - Christ Church 2 - Harvey Browne 0.

CHRIST CHURCH SWEEPS WATKINS

Christ Church took all three games at Watkins on Monday night, two in their last at-bats.

Watkins took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth of Game One on home runs by Norm and Barb.  Christ Church had its first base runner in the top of the fifth when Bob Stone reached on an error and its first run when Andy Coates followed with a triple (RBI).  Watkins restored their two run advantage in the bottom of the inning with a triple by Andrew and a single by Doug.  In the seventh Christ Church tied the game.  Andy singled and scored on a home run (2 RBI) by Mike Thompson.  In the ninth, with the game still tied, Andy (single) and Mike T(2 RBI HR) repeated their efforts of the seventh as Christ Church took Game One.  Leah Bennett and Tom Bennett added singles.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - Watkins 3.

Watkins again scored first in Game Two with a lead off home run by Gene.  Tom (in the first), Andy (in the second) and Leah (in the third) singled and David Stierle reached on an error but it was not until the fourth that Christ Church managed to tie the game on a home run by Maddie King.  Tom (in the eighth) and Bob Stone (in the ninth) added singles but the game remained tied after nine innings.  In the tenth, Mark Nethary homered to give Christ Church the lead which held up for the win.   The Final - Christ Church 2 - Watkins 1.

Christ Church started strong in Game Three by scoring four in the second inning.  Bob singled; David tripled (RBI); Mike T singled (RBI); and Maddie homered (2 RBI).  Watkins eventually took a 5-4 lead with one in the third (John- error; Doug triple), two in the fourth (HR by Norm and Jenn), one in the sixth (HR by Norm) one in the seventh (HR by Andrew).  David singled in the seventh but died on base.  In the eighth Leah (RBI), Tom (RBI), Bob (RBI) and Andy (RBI) went single, triple, single and triple to push three across and added a ninth inning insurance run on a double by Mark and an RBI triple by Leah.  Watkins cut into the lead in the ninth on a double (Barb), a sacrifice (Ken) and a single (Andrew) but the comeback fell two runs short.  The Final - Christ Church 8 - Watkins 6.

CHRIST CHURCH DROPS TWO SERIES IN A ROW FOR FIRST TIME THIS SEASON

Christ Church salvaged a Game Three win Monday night at St. Matthews Baptist but still dropped the nights series two games to one.

St, Matthews never trailed in Game One.  Betty's second inning home run opened the scoring.  Leah Bennett had led off the game with a one dart single but died at first.  Leah homered with two out in the second to tie the game.  Bob Stone followed with a single but was left on base.  In the bottom of the inning, St. Matthews used an error from Kelly and home runs by Derald and Bill to score three.  After Tom Bennett was stranded after a single in the fifth,  Bob singled in the sixth and scored on a triple (RBI) by Mike Peak to trim a run off the lead.  Bill's home run in the bottom of the sixth restored the three run lead.  It became a one run ball game in the seventh.  Tom homered, Maddie King reached on an error and Leah drove her home with an RBI triple.  But a HR by Keene built the lead to two and a single by David Stierle and a sacrifice by Dick Lutz in the eighth and a single by Leah in the ninth failed to produce a run.  The Final - St. Matthews Baptist 6 - Christ Church 4.

Christ Church took their fist lead of the night in the fourth inning of Game Two sfter wating a to out triple by Dick in the first, a two out single by Tom in the second and a lead off single by Maddie in the third.  In the fourth with two outs, Mike Thompson singled with two outs and scored on a triple (RBI) by Tom.  But that proved to be the only run Christ Church could push across.  Leah (in the fifth) and Andy Coates (in the sixth) added singles.  St. Matthews matched Christ Church's fourth inning run on back to back two out doubles by Kelly and Derald  and got the game winner in the sixth on a home run by Barry.  The Final - St. Matthews Baptist 2 - Christ Church 1.

A three home run attack led Christ Church to victory in Game Three.  Christ Church started the scoring in the top of the second on a lead off single by Andy and a two out triple (RBI) by Tom.  Keene's third inning homer tied the game.  After David died at first after a lead off single in the fourth, Maddie's home run put Christ Church in front to stay.  Andy made it 2-1 with a home run in the sixth.  Leah singled in the eighth and was driven in by a triple (RBI) from Mike P.  Tom closed out the scoring in the ninth with a homer and Mark Nethary added a non-run scoring error.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - St. Matthews Baptist 1.
