St. Matthews Baptist Church used twelve home runs to take two out of three games from home-standing Christ Church Monday night.

In Game One, although out-hit ten to nine, five of St. Mathews hits were home runs to take the victory.  Christ Church took a 1-0 lead in the second.  David Stierle singled and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Bob Stone.  Dick Lutz drove in the run with a double.  Home runs by Bill and Barb put St. Matthews in front 2-1 in the third.  Christ Church regained the lead in the fifth when, with two outs, Leah Bennett tripled; Mike Peak singled (RBI); and Tom Bennett tripled (RBI); and stretched the lead to 4-2 on a single by David and an RBI triple by Bob. But St. Matthews tied the game in the seventh on a double by David and a home run by Bill.  In the eighth a double by Barb and a home run by Kelly and in the ninth a home run by Matt closed out the scoring,  Leah, Mike P. and Jerry Hinton added singles for Christ Church.  The Final- St. Matthews Baptist 7 - Christ Church 4.

Christ Church again took the lead in Game Two.  Leah led off with a single and scored on a triple by Tom.  Another lead off single by Leah in the third and a triple by Mike P. 9RBI) made it 2-0.  That lead disappeared on a homer by David in the fourth and a three run homer by Derald in the fifth following a single by Jim and an error by Barb.  In the fifth, Christ Church cut into the deficit.  Mike P. tripled with two outs and was driven in by a single by Tom.  Kelly got that run back with a seventh inning home run.  Christ Church failed to score after a lead off triple by Mike Thompson in the fourth; a two out triple by Leah in the seventh and a lead off single by Tom in the eighth.  The Final- St. Matthews Baptist 5 - Christ Church 3.

St, Matthews took a 4-0 lead in Game Three.  In the first, Jim singled and Kelly homered.  In the second Betty reached on an error and Matt homered.  Christ Church tied the game with a run in the second (David single; Mike T. triple) and three in the third (Terry Waddle homer; Leah single; Tom triple; David single).   In the fifth Christ Church took a 5-4 lead on a single by Leah and a triple by Tom.  Barry's homer in the seventh tied the score, but Christ Church moved in front by two on a single by Mike P., a triple by Leah, and a single by David in the bottom of the inning.  Barry's ninth inning home run left St. Matthews a run short.  The Final - Christ Church 7 - St. Matthews 6.
