Game One - Christ Church v. Harvey Browne- to be played as suspended game

An error was discovered in the score card in Game One of the Christ Church series played at Harvey Browne on December 14th.

In the top of the eighth , with the score tied at 4-4, Dick single and scored on a triple by Mike T.  This made the score 5-4 in favor of Christ Church with Mike T. on third.  David then hit into a double play which left the bases empty.   The dart was removed from first base.  With two out, Tom  tripled and Andy singled for a 6-4 Christ Church lead.

However, the score-keeper failed to note that Mike T. had been doubled off and credited Christ Church with 3 runs instead of the correct two.

Harvey Browne's two runs in the ninth, rather than falling a run short, tied the Game.

Bob Fox has made a ruling as follows:

Thank you for finding the problem. This is the first time I have encountered this problem. I spent a bit of time with the MLB rules, which doesn't have much to say about official scorer errors. (Our situation is somewhat different from theirs, to be sure.) Here is what I recommend:

1. Treat the game as played so far as a suspended game. Start with the same batting order at the 10th inning. You may substitute for absent players.

Have your copy of the existing scoresheet, with the following unrelated (I think) correction made - Mike Peak scored only 1 run instead of two. Tom Bennett did not have an RBI {part of the problem).

2. Play the remainder of the game at your next meeting which is on February 22. Harvey Browne will be the home team for the partial game. Christ Church is the home team for the regular games.

I will change and re-issue the standings report for December 14 to reflect this.

I have communicated this to Bill Bliven. He is agreeable. Any questions or comments?

Bob

On February 22, before beginning the regular Harvey Browne at Christ Church series,  Christ Church will bat in the tenth inning of the suspended game with Dick to lead off, followed by Mike T., David, Tom, Andy, Charles, Frank, Leah and Mike P.   February 22nd is a fourth Monday, so we should have Jerry and Bob as pinch hitters.
