Christ Church Salvages Game Three

After dropping a pair of 1-0 losses, Christ Church rebounded to win the third game and avoid a sweep Monday night at St. Matthews Baptist.

In Game One, St. Matthews Baptist took the lead in the bottom of the first on singles by Bob and Jim and a double by Kelly.  A lead-off single by Leah Bennett and a two out triple by Dick Lutz tied the game.  But a couple singles by David Stierle and a single by Bob Stone failed to produce a run.  A sixth inning home run by Kelly was all St. Matthews needed for the win.  The Final - St. Matthews 2 - Christ Church 1.

Christ Church again took the lead in Game Two on a home run by Charles Smith in the fifth inning.  A home run by Betty in the sixth and one by Derald in the seventh put St. Matthews on top.  Christ Church could not drive in any more runs in spite of a couple of singles by Leah, one by Dick Lutz and doubles by Tom Bennett, Bob, and Charles.  The Final - St. Matthews 2 - Christ Church 1.

St. Matthews failed to score in Game Three.  Christ Church took a 2-0 lead in the second as Jerry Hinton, Tom and Leah went single-triple-single.  Bob homered in the second.  In the seventh, Charles led off with a double and scored on a double by Bob.  After Mike Thompson reached on an error, a double by Andy produced the second run of the inning.  Non-run scoring hits were two more singles by Leah a single by David and a double by Jerry.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - St. Matthews 0.
