ST. MATTHEWS UMC TAKES SERIES

Christ Church snapped a six game losing streak by powering to a Game Three win Monday night at St. Matthews UMC.

In Game One, Christ Church took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning,  Andy Coates tripled (RBI) with two outs to drive in Mike Peak who had led off the inning with a single.  In the eighth, Leah Bennett started the inning with a single and scored two outs later on a triple (RBI) by David Stierle.  But in he bottom of the eighth, back to back, two out home runs by Freddie and Russell tied the game and Herb's lead off home run gave St. Matthews the victory.  Christ Church also got non-run scoring hits from: David, triple in the first; Bob Stone, single in the fifth; Mike P, single in the sixth; and Vince Richards, single in the seventh.  The Final - St. Matthews UMC 3 - Christ Church 2.  

Christ Church failed to score in Game Two.  Jerry Hinton  started the game in fine fashion with a lead-off single but died at on base.  The same fate was suffered by Mike Thompson after a fourth inning double; by Jerry after a sixth inning single; and by Tom Bennett after doubles in the seventh and ninth.  St. Matthews, meanwhile, got a pair of runs in the fourth on a single-triple-single by Carl1, Russell and Norman and another pair in the sixth, again on a single-triple-single by Russell, Norman and Bill.  The Final - St. Matthews UMC 4 - Christ Church 0.  

 Christ Church took the lead in Game One on consecutive first inning home runs by Mike Thompson and Andy.  They added three in the second on a lead off home run by Bob, a single by Leah, a triple (RBI) by Sydney Raderer; and an RBI single by Jerry.  In the fifth, Jerry began the inning with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) from David and a single (RBI) by Vince.  Christ Church could not push Tom across after his sixth inning single but tacked on two runs in the ninth on a double by Sydney and a home run by Jerry.  St. Matthews remained scoreless until Russell's solo ninth inning hone run.  The Final - Christ Church 9 - St. Matthews UMC 1.
