CHRIST CHURCH WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT SERIES
Sixth place Christ Church hosted second place Immanuel Monday night and came away with the series victory.
Game One was scoreless until Immanuel scored in the top of the sixth inning. Leah Bennett led off the first with a single for Christ Church and Vince Richards added a fifth inning double. Back-to-back doubles by Adam and Frank gave Immanuel a 1-0 lead which held up until Vince tied the game with an eighth inning home run. Neither team was able to get a hit in the ninth, tenth or eleventh innings. Neither a lead-off triple in the top of the twelfth nor a lead-off double in the top of the thirteenth produced a go ahead run for Immanuel. In the bottom of the thirteenth, Andy Coates led off with a triple and scored on a game-winning, walk-off, RBI single by Dick Lutz. The Final - CHRIST CHURCH 2 - IMMANUEL 1.
Immanuel dominated from the outset in Game Two. One out doubles by Jared and Alan put Immanuel on the board. After two outs, David singled and was followed by a three run home run by Bob and a solo home run by Frank for a five run first. Christ Church was limited to a double by Frank Preston before Christ Church scored on a solo home run by Sydney Raderer in the sixth. Leah (after Sydney's HR in the sixth) and Tom Bennett in the seventh added singles. In the eighth a double (Jared), triple (John) and a single (David) pushed Immanuel's run total to seven. Christ Church mounted a comeback in the bottom of the eighth. Frank doubled, moved to third on a single by Leah and was driven by an RBI single by Mike Peak. Mike Thompson's two out triple (2 RBI) drove in both Leah and Mike P to cut the lead to 7-4. But Immanuel got all three runs back in the ninth on a HR (Brandy), a pair of doubles (Jared and Alan) and a triple (John). The Final - IMMANUEL 10 - CHRIST CHURCH 4.
For the third time on the night Immanuel scored first in Game Three. In the third inning, singles by Adam and Buzz and a double by Jared put one run on the board. Mike P singled in the first but was stranded. David Stierle singled in the second and was moved to second on a sacrifice by Tom but died there. In the fifth Christ Church went single (David) - triple (RBI Tom) - single (RBI Andy) - triple (RBI Mike P) - single (RBI Jerry) to put Christ Church in the lead 4-1. In the eighth, Christ Church posted an insurance run on a lead-off single by Mike P who advanced to second on a sacrifice by Mike T and scored on a double (RBI) by Dick. A single by David and a home run by Bob moved Immanuel to within two runs but their rally ended there. The Final - CHRIST CHURCH 5 - IMMANUEL 3.

CHRIST CHURCH WINS SERIES
After dropping an extra inning game one at Trinity Monday night, Christ Church took the next two games to win the series.
Christ Church took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning of Game One. Jerry Hinton singled and scored on a triple (RBI) from Mike Thompson. The lead was extended to 3-0 in the third on a two out triple by Mike Peak; a single (RBI) by David Stierle; and a triple (RBI) by Jerry. A home run (by Dennis), double (Don) and a triple (David) moved Trinity to within a run. There was no additional scoring until an eighth inning home run by David tied the score. A scoreless ninth sent the game into extra innings. In the first extra inning, a single by Leah and a triple by Tom Bennett put Christ Church up 4-3. But in the bottom of the tenth, a double and a two out two run home run gave Trinity the victory. Christ Church got non-run scoring singles from Leah in the first, Jerry in the sixth, Tom in the eighth and Andy Coates in the ninth. The Final - Trinity 5 - Christ Church 4.
Game Two was scoreless through four innings. Christ Church's sole hit over four innings was a lead off single by Leah in the fourth. In the fifth, a two out solo home run by Dick Lutz opened the scoring. After a single by Leah to lead off the sixth was wasted, in the seventh Jerry got things going with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by Mike T. Dick followed with a single (RBI) to put Christ Church up by three. A home run by Bonnie in the bottom of the inning cut into the lead but a single by Leah to open the eight resulted in a run on a triple (RBI) by Jerry as Christ Church took a three run lead into the ninth. It was just barely enough as Tom and Bonnie homered to leave Trinity a run short. The Final - Christ Church 4 - Trinity 3.
Christ Church scored in only two innings in Game Three. Leah again singled to open the game but was left on base. Andy's single and Dick's triple (RBI) gave Christ Church a short lived lead. Bob tied the game with a home run in the bottom. In the third Leah singled for the second time. But this time Tom drove Leah in with a triple (RBI). This run was followed by a single (RBI) from Mike P; a triple (RBI) by Jerry; a single (RBI) by David; and a triple (RBI) by Andy for a five run third inning and a five run lead. A home run by Tom in the bottom of the second trimmed the lead to four. That run turned out to be the last score of the game. Christ Church also got hits from Leah, a single in the fourth; David, a single in the fifth; Tom, a triple in the sixth; Jerry, a single in the seventh; and Tom, a single in the ninth. The Final - Christ Church 6 - Trinity 2.

Frank Preston Powers Sweep
Frank
Preston's solo home run in Game Three was the only run of
the game as Christ Church completed a sweep of visiting Portland
Monday night in Room 005.
Game One was a seesaw affair as Portland got on the board first in
the top of the first. After Perry led off the game with a single
Barb homered with two outs for a 2-0 Portland lead.
Tom Bennett singled
in the first but was left on base. Frank
cut the Portland lead in half with a
third inning solo home run. Portland
stretched the lead back to two on a home run by Mike in the fourth.
Christ Church took the lead in the bottom of the inning. Mike
Peak singled and scored on Mike
Thompson's home run (2 RBI) to tie
the game. After a Bob Stone single,
David Stierle put
Christ Church ahead with a triple (RBI). An
error for Perry and a triple by Ron tied the game once again at four
in the fifth. Christ Church answered to
regain the advantage on a single by Tom
Bennett and a triple by Mike
P. Mike's second home run of the
game for Portland tied the score in the sixth.
David singled in the sixth but died
at first. In the seventh Leah Bennett
singled and came around to score on
a triple (RBI) by Mike T. Christ
Church put the game away in the eighth. Bob
doubled to lead off the inning.
With two outs, Frank doubled
(RBI) to drive in Bob and was followed by a triple (RBI) from Leah
and a single (RBI) from Tom for
a three run inning and a four run lead. Jimmy's
ninth inning home run fell short for Portland. The
Final – Christ Church 9 – Portland 6.
Christ
Church did not trail in Game Two. Leah
singled and Mike
T tripled (RBI) for a 1-0 lead after
one. An inning later, a single by Dick
Lutz was followed by Frank's
two out 2 RBI home run. There was
no scoring in the fourth through seventh innings. David
singled in the fourth and was moved
to second on a sacrifice by Vince
Richards. Leah singled in the fifth
and seventh but was left on both times.
A double by Perry and a triple by Ron put Portland on the board in
the eighth, but a home run by Mike
T restored the three run lead.
Jerry Hinton doubled,
also in the eighth. Larry added a run
for Portland in the ninth with a home run to close the scoring. The
Final – Christ Church 4 – Portland 2.
After
amassing fifteen hits in Game One and ten in Game Two, Christ Church
could only reach base four times in Game Three.
Jerry singled
twice (in the first and fourth innings) and Bob
singled in the eighth. But the
games sole run, the game winner and the sweep came on Frank's
sixth inning homer.
The
Final – Christ Church 1 – Portland 0.

CHRIST CHURCH TAKES TWO OF THREE
For the first time since January 30, Christ Church won the weeks series. On Monday night, visiting Harvey Browne Presbyterian was beaten two games to one.
In Game One, Christ Church did not trail although a furious Harvey Browne come back fell just short. David Stierle tripled in the first and Andy Coates singled in the second. The scoring started in the third. Leah Bennett singled with one out and scored on a triple (RBI) by Mike Peak who also scored on a single (RBI) by David. After Harvey Browne posted a run on a home run by Louise in the fifth, Christ Church negated that run in the bottom of the inning on a single by Leah and a triple by David. In the seventh, Christ Church made it 5-1. A lead-off single by Vince Richards was followed by a triple (RBI) by Mike P, and a single (RBI) by David. In the ninth, a Harvey Browne single by Fred, a two run HR by Mike, and doubles by Tom and Louise pulled them within a run with the tying run on second and the go-ahead run at bat. But that was as close as Harvey Browne could get. The Final - Christ Church 5 - Harvey Browne 4.
In Game Two, Christ Church could not cash in on a second inning double by Andy, nor a fifth inning single by Tom Bennett, nor a ninth inning single by Mike Thompson. Christ Church's sole run came in the seventh on a single by David and triple (RBI) by Tom. Harvey Browne scored all of their runs on solo home runs by Mike in the second, fourth and seventh innings. The Final - Harvey Browne 3 - Christ Church 1.
Christ Church took the rubber match, opening the scoring in the second on doubles by Andy, Bob Stone (RBI) and Dick Lutz (RBI). Dick's fifth inning home run put Christ Church up 3-0 and it became 5-0 in the sixth on a single by Mike P, a triple (RBI) by Jerry Hinton, and a single (RBI) by Tom. In the seventh, a single by Fred, a triple by Jennifer and a sacrifice by Fred W. put two on the board but the rally fell short. The Final - Christ Church 5 - Harvey Browne 2.
