CHRIST CHURCH TAKES TWO OF THREE

For the first time since January 30, Christ Church won the weeks series.  On Monday night, visiting Harvey Browne Presbyterian was beaten two games to one.

In Game One, Christ Church did not trail although a furious Harvey Browne come back fell just short.  David Stierle tripled in the first and Andy Coates singled in the second.  The scoring started in the third.  Leah Bennett singled with one out and scored on a triple (RBI) by Mike Peak who also scored on a single (RBI) by David.  After Harvey Browne posted a run on a home run by Louise in the fifth, Christ Church negated that run in the bottom of the inning on a single by Leah and a triple by David.  In the seventh, Christ Church made it 5-1.  A lead-off single by Vince Richards was followed by a triple (RBI) by Mike P, and a single (RBI) by David.  In the ninth, a Harvey Browne single by Fred, a two run HR by Mike, and doubles by Tom and Louise pulled them within a run with the tying run on second and the go-ahead run at bat.  But that was as close as Harvey Browne could get.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - Harvey Browne 4.

 In Game Two, Christ Church could not cash in on a second inning double by Andy, nor  a fifth inning single by Tom Bennett, nor a ninth inning single by Mike Thompson.  Christ Church's sole run came in the seventh on a single by David and triple (RBI) by Tom.  Harvey Browne scored all of their runs on solo home runs by Mike in the second, fourth and seventh innings.  The Final - Harvey Browne 3 - Christ Church 1.

Christ Church took the rubber match, opening the scoring in the second on doubles by Andy, Bob Stone (RBI) and Dick Lutz (RBI).  Dick's fifth inning home run put Christ Church up 3-0 and it became 5-0 in the sixth on a single by Mike P, a triple (RBI) by Jerry Hinton, and a single (RBI) by Tom.  In the seventh, a single by Fred, a triple by Jennifer and a sacrifice by Fred W. put two on the board but the rally fell short.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - Harvey Browne 2.
