After dropping all three in their first meeting with Immanuel this season, Chrsit Church managed a split with Immanuel Monday night at Immanuel.
After scoreless innings in the first (Dick Lutz tripled) and second (Mark Nethary doubled) of Game One, Christ Church broke on top in the third. Don Merdith singled with one out. Two outs later, Dick tripled (RBI) and Andy Coates singled (RBI) for a 2-0 lead. Back to back doubles to open the fourth by Mark and Nick Peak extended the lead to three. Immanuel had a big sixth inning posting four runs on six hits to take a 4-3 lead on a double by Frank, a triple by Zach, a home run by Alan, a single by Buzz and a triple by John. But that lead lasted less than a half inning. David Stierle, Mike Thompson (RBI) and Don (RBI) led off the inning with a single triple single to edge in front by a run. In the eighth, Vince Richards led off with a double and scored on a triple (RBI) by Mark, who scored on an (RBI) single by Nick. Immanuel managed to trim a run off the lead on a double by Jared and a triple by John but could get no closer. The Final - Christ Church 7 - Immanuel 5.
Both teams scored in the first inning of Game Two. Christ Church's run came on a single by Don and a triple (RBI) by Andy. Immanuel's came on a lead off home run by Bob. A home run by Vince in the second and a home run by Mike T. in the fourth, and a single by David, a single by Don, and a 2-RBI triple by Dick made it 5-1. Adam's fifth inning home run was matched by a home run by Vince in the sixth. But Immanuel continued to battle. A two run HR by Alan drove in Zach from third in the sixth to cut the lead to 6-4. Mike Peak tripled with two out in the seventh but was left stranded and the game went to the bottom of the ninth with Christ Church holding on to a two run lead. With one out Brandy and Larry doubled (6-5) and Jim homered for the win. The Final - Immanuel7 - Christ Church 6.
Christ Church scored in only one inning of Game Three b ut they scored big. With one out in the fourth, Mike P. singled and was driven by a triple by Dick. with two outs, Mike T kept the inning going with an (RBI) single and Vince closed out the thee run inning and the scoring with a triple (RBI). Mike P added a lead off sixth inning single and David chipped in with an eighth inning triple. Alan homered in the fourth and Brandy homered in the seventh for Immanuel but they could manage only two more hits as Christ Church took the series two games to one. The Final - Christ Church 3 - Immanuel 2.
