Christ Church led all the way in Game one.After wasting a single by Jerry Hinton in the first, a triple by David Stierle in the third and a single by Tom Bennett in the fourth, Christ Church got on the board in the fifth. David tripled with two outs and Don Meredith singled (RBI) for the 1-0 lead. An inning later. Leah Bennett, Tom (RBI) and Mike Peak (RBI) went single-triple-single for a three run lead. A home run by Bill in the seventh moved St. Matthews to within a pair of runs but that turned out to be the last run by either team. David tripled in the seventh and Tom singled in the eighth but both were stranded. The Final - Christ Church 3 - St. Matthews Baptist 1.
Christ Church never trailed in Game Two. A single by Leah and a triple (RBI) by David provided a first inning run. A single by Nick Peak and a triple by Don (RBI) doubled the advantage in the third. After leaving runners on in the next three innings (a single by David; a single by Don; and a double by David) St. Matthews used baxk to back home runs by Keene and Derald to tie the game in the seventh. In what would be its last at-bats in the eighth, Christ Church got the run it needed on a single by Leah and a triple (RBI) by Vince Richrads. The Final - Christ Church 3 - St. Matthews Baptist 2.
St. Matthews turned the tables in Game Three by never trailing. Joseph and Bill used a single and triple for a first inning run. An error (Homer) and a home run (Derald) made it a three run game in the fifth and the margin was extended to four as Joseph and Bill again singled and tripled Through seven innings Christ Church could only manage a pair of singles (Don in the first; Mike P in the fifth) before mounting a comeback. In the eighth a single by Andy Coates and a double by Vince put runners on second and third. Mark Nethary followed with a 2 RBI double to make it a two run game. The ninth started off well with a single from Tom and an triple (RBI) by David to move Christ Church to wiyhin a run. A double play (Christ Church's third of the night) cleared the bases. Nick singled to give some hope but the third out ended the threat and the game. The Final - St. Matthews Baptist 4 - Christ Church 3.
