Both teams had eight hits in Game One.
Portland struck first in the top of the third with the games first
hits and first runs- all with two out. Diana started it with a
single and was followed by a triple by Perry, a single by Ron and a
triple by David for a 3-0 lead. Christ Church
got its first hit in the fourth, a two out triple by Mike
Thompson, and
its first run in the fifth on a single by David
Stierle
and a triple (RBI) by Vince
Richards. David's
home run scored Portland's fourth run an inning later.
Tom Bennett made
the score 4-2 with a home run (RBI) in the seventh. Vince
was
left on base after a two out double. In the eighth, Christ Church
made it a one run game on a two out single by Mike
Peak
and a triple (RBI) by Mike T.
In
the ninth David tripled
with one out but Christ Church could not push the winning run across.
THE
FINAL – PORTLAND 4 – CHRIST CHURCH 3.
Portland
took an early 1-0 lead in Game Two on a single by Perry and a triple
by Ron. But the lead was short lived. Leah
Bennett led off the bottom of the
first with a single. With two outs, Mike
P singled (RBI)) to tie the
game; David tripled (RBI) to give Christ Church the lead; Tom
Bennett tripled (RBI); Andy
Coates singled (RBI); and Dick
Lutz tripled (RBI) to put Christ
Church up 5-1. A double by Larry and a
home run by Brittany cut the lead to two.
But the four run lead was restored as Leah
again led off with a single and was
followed by Jerry Hinton with
a triple (RBI) and Mike P with
a single (RBI). The third inning saw
both teams again score two runs. Portland's came on a single by Ron
and a HR by Barb. Christ Church scored
their two on a home run by Andy
(RBI), a single by Leah and
a triple (RBI) by Jerry.
The lead shrunk to three in the fifth
on a single by Ron and a triple by David.
Christ Church added their last run of the game in the seventh. Mike
P singled and scored on a triple
(RBI) by Andy. In
the ninth a home run by Perry closed out the scoring. THE
FINAL- CHRIST CHURCH 10 – PORTLAND 7.
Portland

Tom singled
in the second but was left on base. In the third. Vince
and David
doubled back to back to tie the
score. Singles by Dick (in
the fifth) and Tom (in
the seventh) failed to produce any runs. In
the eighth, Portland went in front again on Mike's home run.
But Christ Church answered in bottom of the eighth. David
led off with a triple. Leah
followed with a single (RBI) to tie
the game. Mike P put
Christ Church in front with a triple (RBI). Portland
went three up three down in the ninth.
