CHRIST CHURCH ENDS SEASON WITH SERIES WIN

Christ Church dropped the first game at Harvey Browne Monday night to close out the 2017-2018 season.

In Game One, Harvey Browne took a 4-0 lead with a two run home run by Tom after a triple by Bob in the first and on a pair of doubles by Bill and Bob and triple by Jenna in the third.  Christ Church managed only five hits.  Andy Coates singled in the third and tripled in the seventh, Bob Stone doubled in the fifth and Dick Lutz singled in the eighth but the second hit for the run did not come.   Christ Church managed only one run.  That came on a fifth inning Home run by Vince Richards.  The Final - Harvey Browne 4 - Christ Church 1.  St. Matthews UMC beat Immanuel 2-1 in their game one.  Christ Church's record stood at 50-29; Immanuel's at 52-27.

Christ Church struck first in Game Two.  Jerry Hinton, Dick (RBI) and Mike Peak went single-triple-single before an out was made to put two on the board.  A single by Andy and a triple (RBI) by David Stierle added a run in the second.  In the bottom of the second, Harvey Browne got a run back on a home run by Chris.  Christ Church batted around in the fourth.  Mark Nethary homered with one out.  David, Jerry (RBI), Dick (RBI), Mike P (RBI), and Mike Thompson (RBI) followed with a single-triple-single-triple-single for a five run inning.  Harvey Browne answered with three home runs in the bottom of the inning from Jenna, Chris and Alex.  Mike T made it 9-4 with a sixth inning home run.  A seventh inning home run by Alex was followed by a triple by Bill and a single by Fred to trim the lead to three.  But Mike P singled, Mike T (RBI) tripled and Vince (RBI) singled to restore the lead.  Chris's third HR of the game in the eighth was answered by a single by David and an RBI triple by Jerry in the ninth.  Mike P added a non-run scoring single and Andy added a pair in a twenty-one hit attack.  The Final - Christ Church 12 - Harvey Browne 7.  St. Matthews UMC beat Immanuel 4-2 in their game two.  Christ Church's record stood at 51-29; Immanuel's at 52-28.

Harvey Browne took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of Game Three on a HR by Bob.  In the Christ Church third, Mike T doubled.  With two outs Andy doubled (RBI) and Mark homered (2 RBI) to post three runs.  An inning later, Dick singled, Mike P tripled (RBI) and Mike T homered (2 RBI) to add three more.  A triple by Dick and a single by Fred made it 6-2 at the end of three.  David singled in the fifth but died at first.  Andy homered in the fifth and his run was matched in the bottom of the inning by a home run by Bob.  Mike P added a ninth inning single.  The Final - Christ Church 12 - Harvey Browne 7.

Immanuel beat St. Matthews 8-1  in their game three to win the championship.  Immanuel's record stood at 53-28; Christ Church's at 52-29.
