In Game One, St. Matthews took a first inning lead on two out doubles by Bill and Carl2. Christ Church scored all their runs in the fourth inning. Dick Lutz led off with a single. Then, after two outs, Andy tripled (RBI) and Vince homered (2 RBI) to put Christ Church in front 3-1. A single by Carl1, a double by Donna and a single by Frank cut the lead to one. St. Matthews took a 4-3 lead in the fifth on a single-triple-single by Glenn, Bill and Carl1. St. Matthews added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth (a HR by Frank) and seventh (a single by Carl1 and a triple by Jim). Jerry added a pair of singles and Bob Stone a double in the loss. The Final - St. Matthews UMC 6 - Christ Church 3.
Christ Church led all the way in a 3-2 Game Two win. Mike Peak tripled with two out in the first and scored on a single (RBI) by David Stierle. Vince homered to lead off the second inning. A single by Carl2 and a triple by Ray cut the lead to 2-1. Mike Thompson homered to lead off the fifth to close the scoring for Christ Church. Jerry added an eighth inning double. A ninth inning HR by Carl2 cut the final margin to one. The Final - Christ Church 3 - St. Matthews UMC 2.
Game Three saw the lead change five times. The first change came as Mike P again tripled with two outs in front of a single (RBI) by David. St. Matthews scored three in the third (second change) on a single by Jim; a two run HR by Herb; a single by Carl2; and a triple by Frank. Dick (single) and Mike P (RBI triple) sliced a run off the lead in the third and they tied in up in the sixth with Dick singling and Mike P tripling (RBI) this time. Vince homered to put Christ Church in front in the seventh for the third lead change. St. Matthews re-took the lead (change #4) with a run in the seventh (Herb- HR) and one in the eighth (Ray- single; Russell- triple). Trailing in the ninth with two outs, Vince homered to tie the score before Bob produced the game winning Home run and fifth lead change. The Final - Christ Church 6 - St. Matthews UMC 5.
