Christ Church Drops Series to Trinity

Christ Church hosted Trinity Presbyterian Monday night and lost two out of three games.

In Game One after Trinity took a 1-0 lead in their first at-bat on a single by Andrew and a triple by Kyle, Christ Church responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.  David Stierle singled and was driven in by a triple (RBI) from Mike Thompson.  With two outs Andy Coates singled (RBI) to score Mike.  Trinity tied the score in the third and took the lead in seventh on home runs by Irv and Dennis.  In the bottom of the seventh, Frank Preston made it 3-3 with a lead off home run.  A single- triple-single by Leah Bennett, David (RBI), and Mike T (RBI) put Christ Church up by two.  Trinity cut the lead in half with a home run in the eighth by Don.  Christ Church got that run back on doubles by Tom Bennett and Dick Lutz (RBI) and Leah's triple (RBI) closed out the scoring.  Vince Richards, Andy, Leah, and Jerry Hinton added singles which did not figure in the scoring.  The Final - Christ Church 7 - Trinity 4.

In Game Two in the bottom of the first, David singled and was moved to second on a sacrifice by Mike T.  Jerry followed with a double (RBI) to put Christ Church on the board.  A two run home run by Thomas (with Josh on second) put Trinity on top 2-1.  Dick singled with two outs in second and Tom doubled with two outs in the seventh with neither able to score,  With two outs in the ninth, Jerry sent the game into extra innings with a home run.  But Trinity led off with back to back to back home runs (Steve, Bob and Irv) and with one out added two more runs on a double by Andrew and a home run by Thomas.  Dick's two out double was way too little.  The Final - Trinity 7 - Christ Church 2.

Game Three was without a hit through three innings.  A single by Leah and a triple (RBI) by Mike T gave Christ Church the lead in the fourth.  In the sixth a lead off single by Andrew and a two out single by Mary were followed by a triple by Thomas to give Trinity a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom, Dick singled but died at first.  In the seventh, Andy's two out double failed to produce a run.  Down by one in the ninth, Mike Peak led off with a single but the second hit was not forthcoming as Christ Church dropped game three and the series.    The Final - Trinity 2 - Christ Church 1.
