CHRIST CHURCH EVENS SEASON SERIES AGAINST PORTLAND

Christ Church won the weekly series at Portland two games to one last Monday.  For 2017-2018 Christ Church and Portland split their games 6-6.

In Game One, Leah Bennett led off the game with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by Mike Peak.  A home run by Mike tied the game in the bottom of the fourth.  The game remained tied through seven innings.  Christ Church managed singles by Bob Stone in the fifth and Dick Lutz in the sixth but both were stranded.  Leading off the seventh David Stierle homered accidentally to put Christ Church on top.  He was followed by a single by Maddie King;  a triple by Leah (RBI); a single by Mike P (RBI); a triple by Andy Coates (RBI); and a single by Bob (RBI) to score five for the inning and a 6-1 lead.  The extra runs proved vital as Portland scored two on triple by Barb and doubles by Christy and Jimmy.  David added a ninth inning single.  The Final - Christ Church 6 - Portland 3.

 Christ Church managed only three hits and no runs in Game Two.  Leah, Mike P and Bob singled but were left on base.  Portland had five hits with the only run of the game coming on an eighth ining home run by Ron.  The Final - Portland 1 - Christ Church 0.

 Christ Church recovered with fourteen hits and seven runs to win Game Three.  In the second, David singled; Vince Richards tripled (RBI); Andy singled (RBI); Maddie doubled; and Leah Singled (RBI) for a 3-0 lead.  A single by Mike P and a triple by Tom Bennett added a run in the third and two more were added in the fourth on a home run by Maddie, a single by Leah and a triple by Mike P.  Portland scored two in the fifth (a HR by Jimmy, a double by Eric and a triple by Ron) and one in the sixth (a HR by Mike).  A single from Dick and triple (RBI) by David closed the scoring.  Andy and Mike P added singles in the eighth and ninth, respectively.
