CHRIST CHURCH EXTENDS STREAK -- BARELY

Christ Church won their tenth straight Monday night series two games to one against visiting St. Matthews Baptist but it took last at-bat runs to pull off both wins.

Christ Church scored the opening run in the first inning of Game One on a single by Jerry Hinton and an RBI triple by Mike Peak.  However, a double by Bob and a home run by Bill put St. Matthews up 2-1 in the second.  Jerry's third inning triple was wasted but Christ Church tied the game in the fourth as Dick Lutz singled and scored on a triple (RBI) by Bob Stone.  Christ Church stranded Leah Bennett after a fifth inning single and Mike P after his eighth inning triple and could not add to their run total.  St. Matthews got all they needed in the seventh on a two run home run by Jim with Keene scoring in front of him.  The Final - St. Matthews Baptist 4 - Christ Church 2.

In Game Three, St. Matthews took a 1-0 lead on a home run by Homer in the second inning.  After failing to put a runner on through three innings, Christ Church tied the score in the fourth on a single from Tom Bennett and a triple (RBI) by David Stierle.  Mike P singled but was left on base in the seventh and the score was still tied at one with one out in the eighth when Mark Nethary homered to give Christ Church the victory.  The Final - Christ Church 2 - St. Matthews Baptist 1.

St, Matthews took the first lead in Game Two on solo home runs by both Bill and Jim in the second.  Bob cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run of his own.  The two run lead was restored in the third on Susan's single and Curtis's triple.  Christ Church again trimmed the lead to one in the sixth on a triple by Jerry and a single (RBI) by Andy Coates.  Christ Church wasted lead off singles by Leah in the first and eight; a two out double by Jerry in the third; and a two out single by Maddie King in the seventh.  Trailing by a run in the ninth, Christ Church was down to their last out when Mark tied the game with a home run to seemingly send the game into extra innings, which were not needed as Maddie produced a walk off home run.  The Final - Christ Church 4 - St. Matthews Baptist 3.
