STREAK ENDS

Christ Church's ten week series winning streak came to an end at St. Matthews UMC Monday night.

Christ Church managed ten hits and five runs in Game One but it was precipitously downhill after.  Leah Bennett got things off to a good start with a lead off single in the first.  A two out triple (RBI) by David Stierle gave Christ Church the early lead.  Leah's third inning single and a triple (RBI) by Mike Peak and a single (RBI) by David made it 3-0.  David was stranded in the sixth after a single as was Mark Nethary after a seventh inning double.  A single by Ray and a triple by Jim cut the lead to two in the seventh.  In the eighth, a single by Mike P and a triple by Dick Lutz restored the three run cushion.  A home run by Donna left Christ Church with a two run lead going to the ninth.  Mark homered to close the scoring.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - St, Matthews UMC 2.

There was no scoring until the seventh inning of Game Two. Dick singled with one out in the first; Andy Coates doubled to lead off the second; Mark doubled with two outs in the fifth; and Jerry Hinton led off the sixth with a single; but each time Christ Church failed, in nine attempts, to come up with the second hit of the inning to produce a run.  In the seventh Andy Coates started the inning with a single and scored on a triple (RBI) by Vince Richards.  Ray, Jim, and Carl went single-triple-single to score two.  The Final  - St. Matthews 2 - Christ Church 1.

Christ Church managed only four runners in Game Three failing in six attempts to produce a run.  Tom Bennett singled with one out in the second (2 failures to drive him in).  Mike Thompson reached on an error in the fourth (1 failure).  Mike P tripled with two out in the sixth (1 failure).  Finally, Mike P singled with one out in the ninth (2 failures).  St. Matthews failed seven times ovr eight innings to drive in a run but were successful in the ninth, on their eighth attempt,  as Carl 1 tripled with two outs to score Ray.   The Final  - St. Matthews 1 - Christ Church 0.
