FIRST VS. SECOND

First place Christ Church visited Immanuel (tied for second) Monday night.

Game One remained scoreless through eight innings.  Immanuel had five hits.  Christ Church could manage only a second inning single and a third inning double by Dick Lutz and a seventh inning single by Jerry Hinton but failed to produce a run.  In the ninth, with one out, David Stierle tripled and scored on a single by Mike Peak who scored on a triple by Jerry.  Immanuel went three up and three down in the bottom of the ninth.  The Final - Christ Church 2 - Immanuel 0.

In Game Two after David died at first after a first inning single, in the third Kay Peak and Dick doubled back to back for Christ Church's first run.  Later in the inning, now with two outs, Mike P. tripled to drive in a run and Mike Thompson followed with an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.  Christ Church added on in the fifth on another pair of doubles by Kay and Dick.  Jerry and Mike P. added non-run scoring singles.  Immanuel's first run of the night came in the ninth on a triple by Jim and a single by David.  The Final - Christ Church 4 Immanuel 1.

Immanuel took a one run first inning lead in Game Two on a single by Buzz and  a triple by John.  In the fourth, Charles Smith and Bob Stone led off the inning with back to back home runs.  Then with two outs, Dick, David and Mike P. went single-triple-single as Christ Church scored four in the frame.  Christ Church added one in the fifth and two in the sixth.  The run in the fifth came on a triple by Dick and a single by David.  The sixth inning runs came on home runs by Mike T. and Charles.  Bob doubled but did not score.  Immanuel made the score 7-3 with a home run by Tanner in the seventh and a triple by Buzz followed by a single by David in the eighth.  Bob's ninth inning homer closed out the scoring,  Jerry added a ninth inning double.  The Final - Christ Church 8 - Immanuel 3.

This was the third sweep of the year for Christ Church and the second against immauel.
