GAME RE-CAP - ST. MATTHEWS UMC

Christ Church entered the night tied with St. Matthews UMC (5-7 records).

After Mike Peak was left on base by Christ Church after a two out triple in the top of the inningSt. Matthews took a one run lead in the bottom of the first inning of Game One on a single by Carl and a triple by Jim. Frank Preston's lead off home run (RBI) in the third tied the game only to have Carl and Jim repeat their first inning actions for a 2-1 advantage. Christ Church re-tied the game a half inning later on a double by Bob Stone and a triple by David Stierle (RBI). Neither team put a runner on base until Bob doubled with one out in the ninth. But after Christ Church  failed to score him and failed to record a hit in the tenth, St. Matthews got a lead-off home run from Russell for the win. THE FINAL – ST. MATTHEWS UMC 3 – CHRIST CHURCH 2.

Christ Church never trailed in Game Two. Andy Coates' homer (RBI) in the second; a single by Leah Bennett and a triple by Mike P (RBI) in the third; and a home run (RBI) by Vince Richards in the fourth put Christ Church up by three. Frank's HR cut into the lead but Tom Bennett singled and Andy tripled (RBI) to restore the three run lead. A seventh inning triple by Freddie and a single by Frank closed out the scoring. Leah added a single in Christ Church's seven hit attack. THE FINAL – CHRIST CHURCH 4 – ST. MATTHEWS 2.

Christ Church struck early and big in Game Three. Leah, David and Mike P went single, triple (RBI) , single (RBI) for a two run lead. Tom's sacrifice advanced Mike to second and he scored ahead of Bob on his home run (2 RBI) for a four run top of the first. With two out in the second, Leah (triple), David (RBI single) and Mike P (RBI triple) produced two more runs. Sydney Raderer made it 7-0 with a fourth inning home run (RBI). Vince also reached on an error in the third. St. Matthews tried to come back but could only put up three runs in the sixth- Carl a 1 single; Carl 2 a single; Jim a triple; Freddie an error; and Russell a double to close the scoring. THE FINAL – CHRIST CHURCH 7 – ST. MATTHEWS 3.
