CHRIST CHURCH EKES OUT SERIES WIN

Christ Church took two out three from Watkins UMC Monday night at Watkins.

Game One was scoreless through three innings with Andy Coates having been stranded after a third inning single.  Christ Church got on the board in the top of the fourth on a lead-off single by Mike Peak and an RBI triple by Dick Lutz.  Christ Church added two in the fifth on a lead-off single by Bob Stone and a triple (RBI) from Andy.  With two outs Mike P singled (RBI) to drive in Andy.  In the eighth, Jerry Hinton opened the inning with a single and Mike P followed with a triple (RBI).  Dick reached on an error to put runners on the corners.  Still with no outs Mike Thompson singled to score Mike P and move Dick to second.  But three straight outs left two on base.  A home run by Don was the only run Watkins could manage as Christ  Church out hit Watkins 9-5.  David Stierle added a ninth inning single.  The Final - Christ Church 5 - Watkins 1.

Christ Church took a 1-0 lead in Game Two which lasted only a half inning.  Jerry singled and scored on a two out triple (RBI) by Mike T.  In the bottom of the first, Gene reached on an error and scored  in front of a home run by Barb.  Christ Church tied the game in the third as Jerry singled and scored again, this time on a triple (RBI) by Dick.  But these two runs were all Christ Church could push across, scattering four hits (David, Dick, Andy - singles; Bob - double) over the final seven innings.  Watkins, meanwhile, tallied five more home runs, two from Gene; and one each from Doug, Dick, and Barb, to pick up the win.  The Final - Watkins 7 - Christ Church 2.

Game Three was scoreless through three.  Christ Church and Dick struck for singlerunsin   the fourth, sixth and eighth innings.  In the fourth, Dick's triple (RBI) scored Mike P after his single.  In the sixth, Dick's triple (RBI) scored Jerry after his single.  In the eighth, Dick did it alone with a two out home run.  Mike P and Andy added non-run scoring singles.  Watkins was scoreless until the ninth when Jay homered.    The Final - Christ Church 3 - Watkins 1.
